The Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly receives water from the water inlet valve and then holds the water in the ice mold until the water freezes solid. It then automatically ejects the ice and refills to continue the process until the ice storage is full. This assembly contains the complete ice maker and housing. This part is designed to be used with select KitchenAid® refrigerators; check to see if your model number is compatible. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance, and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Also, turn off the refrigerator's water supply before you begin. Helpful Tip: If your old water line has a kink or starts to leak, it should be replaced. A water filter can also be added in line with the copper supply line to improve the quality of your ice.
