Here is a neat little device that is self powered. It's a Wi-Fi adapter that has a built in Hotspot detector. Picks A , B and G signals and give the SSID and encryption modes. Hunts down access points also, very useful. Charges itself when you plug it into your computer.
The Wi-Fi Adapter works with windows XP and Windows 7. It has not been tested on Win 10. The adapter can connect to the internet when you plug it into your PC on A, B, or G Networks and will let you surf the net.
I know your Iphone can scan networks too. but this device is stealth and you can do it when know one is looking or when hotspots are off limits to certain parties. Can also be used to scan for spy devices that use the Wi-Fi.t
The display doesn't have a backlight so make sure you have enough room light to view it.
Still useful after all these years.
