Tamiya 32527 1/48 Russian Tank Destroyer SU-122

Finely detailed 1/48 scale model kit of the World War II era Soviet self-propelled howitzer SU-122. Initially called the U-35 ('U' after its developer UZTM), the SU-122 was based on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank and armed with a 122 mm M-30 howitzer mounted in non-traversing compartments. The Soviet Army formed medium self-propelled artillery regiments using SU-122s, and the SU-122 was popular among Soviet troops due to its powerful armament and good armor protection. With later introduction of BP-460A HEAT projectile, the SU-122 was capable of taking on any German armor vehicles, including the powerful Tiger tanks. Some 1,150 SU-122s were built, and the type served successfully for the Soviet Army until the end of World War II. This Tamiya 1/48 scale assembly kit features diecast chassis, accurately reproduced hull with weld marks, accurately reproduced movable 122 mm howitzer with texturing on the gun base, optional rear-mounted auxiliary fuel tanks, and decals to reproduce unit numbers and red star markings.
