Its not easy to mine for Fire Agate on Slaughter Mountain. It is on an Indian Reservation and one must get permission from the tribal elders in order to mine there. Some of the very best Fire Agate in the entire world comes from this locality. Finding material that is this high in quality is rare if you were to mine the site regularly. This was mined in the 1970s and is therefore old stock material. This specimen has a fine final polish that requires a skilled hand and special equipment to get right. There is a nice rainbow of colors and excellent three dimensional appearing aesthetics. A great piece from a great locality! Also I have to mention that, at least in my opinion, if you look at the second picture it resembles the side profile of a Native American.
