St Cuthberts Mill has been making paper since 1700 and is a specialist in creating good quality archival papers for artists. The name St Cuthberts Mill is a hallmark of quality and reliability. Master papermakers create SAUNDERS WATERFORD from 100% cotton using a cylinder molding machine at their mill in Wells, in the English county of Somerset. In-Mold papers are optimal for artists due to their stable surface that stays naturally flatter than other papers, due to the superior surface stability when applying washes. SAUNDERS WATERFORD is St Cuthberts Mill's good quality watercolor paper. This exquisite looking paper has a gelatin coating on the surface which makes it robust and suitable for scratching, rubbing and other rough techniques. The paper is endorsed by the prestigious Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) in the UK. The texture of its surface has been created using natural wool felts to obtain a beautiful random texture. SAUNDERS WATERFORD CP surface is the middle surface of all three finishes and is suitable for most painting styles. The white shade is the original color of the range and is a creamy white shade that will give warmth to a painting. Glued on all 4 edges, this block is designed to dry flat, so artists don't need to soak and stretch the sheet before painting, optimal for working in plein air. Suitable for watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pen and ink, pastel, pencil and charcoal techniques.
