The new GEN 5 SOF Tourniquet is a true generational upgrade to the most effective windlass tourniquet on the market featuring 4 key upgrades: A retention Clip, 5.5" Windlass, Quick-Compression Buckle, and Reinforced Material. The new SOF Tourniquet is built upon its original ruggedness and durability, which was the result of an exhaustive 24-month research initiative compiling end-user research and laboratory studies. The tourniquet is comprised of high-strength, lightweight alloy components. Its design allows the tourniquet to slide over a limb or, if the limb is trapped, the tourniquet can be rapidly disconnected and reconnected around the limb without rethreading the strap. With one application method for both the arm and the leg, it is the easiest tourniquet to operate under stress, which can lead to reduced levels of blood loss and ultimately better quality patient care.The new SOF Tourniquet still maintains its true 1.5" tourniquet strap, providing a wider compression pattern than most standard tourniquets or tourniquets with a 1" constricting band moving through a 1.5" sleeve. The wider compression pattern results in additional arterial compression and increased patient comfort. Additionally, each tourniquet is shipped with two UV-resistant black rubber bands for mounting to your individual equipment. The new SOF Tourniquet is one of only two windlass tourniquets approved for use by the Department of Defense, one of only two windlass tourniquets approved for use by the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care, and the tourniquet of choice for the American Red Cross. • GEN 5 True 1.5" constricting band for increased constricting pressure and patient comfort
• Reinforced polyester webbing maximizes compression during the application process. At a true 1.5" width, the performance material glides through the Rugged Buckle for quick, snag-free operation and minimizes loss of pressure over time after application.
• Slack Indicator Wedge stitched into the Performance Compression Band below the windlass. The contrasting wedge offers a visual confirmation you have pulled all excess slack from the band. This is a critical step for proper tourniquet application and results in fewer windlass rotations required to reach occlusion.
• Machined from a single aircraft-grade aluminum bar stock, the 5.5” windlass features signature conical ends and grip-friendly texture for consistent torque. Its anodized finish minimizes impacts from environmental elements for durability in any scenario.
• Complete the tourniquet application by securing the windlass into the Tri-Ring Lock. It can easily be manipulated with just one hand and prevents the windlass from shifting during patient movement.
