Snowflake pear, named for its tender white flesh resembling snowflake, is one of the specialties of Zhao County, Hebei Province. Therefore, it is called “Zhaozhou Snowflake Pear”, and locals also refer to it as Snow pear or “Xiangxiang pear”. Snowflake pear has a cultivation history of over 2,000 years in Zhao County. It is also a traditional major export fruit of Hebei Province, enjoying a high reputation domestically and internationally. Zhaozhou Snowflake pear has been recognized as a “high-quality agricultural product” by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, and it won first place in the national fruit quality evaluation competition in 1985. Snowflake pears typically have large sizes and abundant juice.
