Although the Skull Snaps self titled album contains drum breaks that have been sampled many times on various hip-hop records by well known acts such as Ol' Dirty Bastard, Das EFX, Eric B. & Rakim, Digable Planets, DJ Shadow, Rob Dougan, Black Moon, Guru and the Prodigy, the funk group released only one album in 1973 before disappearing. Original members Erv Littleton Waters, Sam O. Culley, and George Bragg comprised a group originally known as the Diplomats which released numerous singles between 1963 and 1970 with some success. Produced by legendary soul music pioneer George Kerr, Skull Snaps lone LP has become a highly sought after album on the rare groove/deep funk market and is now finally available in the digital domain, newly remastered.
