Camille Pissarro, inspired by the landscapes of Camille Corot and the Barbizon group at the World's Fair, embraced landscape painting and studied at prestigious institutions. He formed bonds with fellow artists like Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, and Paul Cézanne, pioneering new painting methods. Though his works were occasionally accepted at the Salon, Émile Zola's support was crucial. During the Franco-Prussian War, Pissarro and Monet fled to London, influenced by John Constable and J.M.W. Turner. Upon returning, Pissarro found his paintings destroyed. After Salon rejections, he and colleagues held independent exhibitions, with Pissarro participating in all eight from 1874-86. Known as the Impressionist patriarch, he received international recognition in 1892 and died in Paris on November 12, 1903.
