This is a very rare specimen, being a new stable mutation of an already rare cultivar. It is a spiralis mutation of Myrtillocactus geometrizans cristata “elite”. It was carefully isolated and cultivated as its own clone by local Tucson gem, Plants for the Southwest nursery - which is renowned for desert plant genetics. (They are especially known for their lithops and their coveted “Tucson Fats” tricho cultivar.) A few years ago, I purchased the largest mother plant they had (see first photo. Later planted in my garden where it took off - see last photo). Having propagated many of these over the past 3 years, I can attest to the stability of this mutation. You'll find almost no reverts. All the spirals I grow are propagated from this same mother plant. They propagate easily, root fast, and are fast growers.
