Pelletized Lime is a dolomite lime that can improve soil pH by raising the pH of acidic soils. If soils are too acidic, plants are not able to absorb the necessary nutrients in the soil. Most plants prefer a garden soil with a pH of 5.5 – 7.0. Pelletized Lime provides a natural source of magnesium and calcium. By adjusting the pH of the soil, it improves fertilizer availability to the plant. This fast-acting acid neutralizer comes in an easy-to-spread, pelleted form. The dust-free pellets are easy to spread, yet dissolve quickly to neutralize acidic soils and enhance fertilizer effectiveness.The quantity of this product to be applied should always be based on a soil pH test. While it is fairly easy to raise the soil pH in your vegetable garden, it is very difficult to lower the pH if you were to make it alkaline by adding too much lime. Therefore, you should always test the soil before adding lime to ensure that you don’t add too much. In sandy loam soils, 5 pounds per 100 square feet will raise the soil pH one point. In medium loam soils, 7 pounds per 100 square feet will raise the soil pH one point. In heavy clay soils, 8 pounds per 100 square feet will raise the soil pH one point.
