Why do you need sifters for your mealworm farm? Mealworms develop at varying rates, and it is often desired to separate mature mealworms from immature mealworms (e.g., for pet consumption and/or sale). Mealworm pupae should also be separated from the bins so they can develop into darkling beetles (commonly referred to as "mealworm beetles") without injury. Moreover, mealworm castings or "frass" should be removed from bins to maintain a healthy environment. Picking out mealworms, beetles, pupae, and mealworm frass by hand is time-consuming and imprecise. A properly designed sifter system allows for quick sorting with minimal stress to the organisms.
