The late Carlos "Patato" Valdez' remarkable career and ground-breaking multi-conga technique has inspired countless drummers, percussionists, and music lovers. His contribution to Latin music includes a unique "melodic" approach to conga playing, and has enabled his legacy to live on through his music. Played by professional congueros the world over, these fiberglass drums were developed in 1978 with "Patato", who required tall drums with a wide belly and small bottom that could project deep bass tones and great volume without sacrificing crisp, high sounds. They have the same shape as the Galaxy Fiberglass Congas, which are perfect for any style of music and sound great live.
