The subzero cold weather package for Larson Electronics Megatower diesel generatorsis designed to provide starting and operation in sub freezing temperatures.
The WCDE-MT-SCWP subzero cold weather package is designed to preheat the diesel engine prior to starting. This package includes:
Coolant heater
In-tank fuel warmer
Battery blankets
0W-40 synthetic oil
200aH 12V battery
The coolant heater is powered by the 200aH battery, and consumes diesel fuel to preheat the fuel and coolant systems. This coolant warmer preheats the engine`s coolant to warm up the engine prior to starting. The in-tank fuel heater warms up diesel fuel, reducing the chance of fuel gelling, leading to clogged filters, pumps, and lines. The electric battery blankets warm the genset`s batteries, extending battery life and cranking capacity. The heater system can be manually turned on, or set for a specific time up to 7 days in advance.
The 200aH battery is on a separate circuit from the battery used to crank the diesel engine, eliminating any risk of draining the battery to the point of not being able to start the engine. A battery charger is included to recharge the additional 200aH 12V battery that powers this cold weather package. The 0W-40 synthetic engine oil provides excellent low temperature performance and keeps oil flowing below -40°C.
