An imitation gold roll, also known as Dutch metal, composition leaf, or schlag metal, is a roll of thin sheets of metal alloy designed to mimic the appearance of genuine gold leaf. It is a much more affordable and durable alternative to real gold for gilding and decorative applications. Product features Composition: Imitation gold leaf is an alloy typically made of 84–86% copper and 14–15% zinc. This gives it a warm, rich tone similar to 23k genuine gold. Format: The leaf is mounted on a continuous, tightly wound roll of transfer or tissue paper, rather than coming in loose sheets. Dimensions: Imitation gold rolls are available in a variety of widths, commonly from 1/2" up to 6" wide, and standard lengths of 50 meters (164 feet). This format is ideal for covering large or long, flat areas efficiently. Durability: The imitation leaf is thicker than genuine gold leaf, making it easier to handle without tearing. However, the copper content will cause it to tarnish over time if not sealed properly after application. For this reason, it is not recommended for exterior use.
