J. Wiltshire's False Awakening opens with delicate pizzicato synth-plucks over a deadly electro-tinged beat, sweeping strings, digital glitches before a funky-as-you-like bassline heralds a discordant vocal line. On his Clubby Tool Mix, Wiltshire slaps resonators on the drums and further manipulates the sound with some clever studio trickery. With their remix, Tuff City Kids (Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer) come out guns blazing with a heavy kick and abrasive hats while the stabby bass and 909 hats set the heady vibe. The duo also throw in a beats mix, the Dub Copy, just like the old days.
