The gas inlet is raised from the other tubing to protect against water from entering the gas line, while the inlet itself is a high capacity 3/4 inch female fitting. The burner ports are drilled instead of punched, and they are standard to allow both proper flow and a more realistic flame pattern while also preventing debris from building up - which can lead to the annoying whistling sound that is often found in lesser quality rings.
