Native to northeastern United States and Canada. They grow naturally in high, dry, sandy, rocky ridges and tolerate of a wide range of soil conditions. These rapidly growing tall trees often reach over 100 feet but most commonly are between 50-80 feet with a max height of 220 feet. Irregular crowns with long horizontal branches range between 20-40 feet wide. Long four inch slender blueish green needles in bundles of five. Slender five inch cones. Grey Bark. Prefers full sun/partial shade, moist well drained fertile sandy loam, and cool humid climates. USDA Hardiness: 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b, 8a & 8b.
