The Boeing E-3, commonly known as AWACS, is an American airborne early warning and control aircraft developed by Boeing. modified from the Boeing 707, it provides all-weather surveillance. The E-3 is distinguished by the distinctive rotating radar dome above the fuselage. The un-pressurized rotodome is 30 feet in diameter, six feet thick at the center, and is held 11 feet above the fuselage by two struts.
