Dirk Schonberger was born in Germany in 1966. He graduated from the Accademia Italiana Moda in Florence and entered the Esmod Munich school in Germany to study pattern making.

From 1992-1995, he worked as an assistant designer for Dirk Bikkembergs for four years, in charge of patterns, material selection, and production management. He established his own brand, "Dirk Schonberger," in 1996. He debuted at the Paris Men's Collection from the Spring/Summer season of 1999. From 2002, he launched the women's line "Dirk Schonberger Femme" for several seasons. After that, he suspended his own brand.

He actively collaborates with a wide range of fields, including magazines, the film industry, and sports. His works are often based on black, and rather than a rugged image, they are often artistic and smart.
