DAPPER 1940s' BROWN FELT HAT WITH PEAR & RUST COLORED FEATHER TRIM + VEIL

This beautiful brown felt hat consists of a medium height round crown which is flat at the top. The brim is short and its edges are turned down to create a softer, rounded edge. The outstanding feature of this hat is the gorgeous pearl trim, from which a rust colored curly set of feathers emerge. There is also a matching veil, plus a brown elastic band to hold the hat in place.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
