Robust flavors of vanilla and maple syrup as well as white sugar and cotton candy can be pulled through. Sweetness can be offset through maturing in oak barrels. Known for its spice, rye gives a whiskey a pepper and cinnamon tone. It is a great additive, to any hobbyist arsenal. The higher the rye content the spicier the whiskey.
