Catalogue: Flame-style Earthenware Design and Function, 2016, Kokugakuin University Museum

In fiscal year 2016, "What's This!": The Flame-Shaped Pottery of the Shinano River Basin and the Culture of the Snow Country," which features flame-shaped pottery from the middle Jomon period and other cultural assets, was certified as a Japan Heritage site by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, based on an application from the Shinano River Flame Road Collaboration Council*. This special exhibition commemorates this, and through excavated items such as flame-shaped pottery, clay figurines, and stone rods from the same period, it introduces their reality and appeal from multiple perspectives.
