11 long years have passed and now the world will finally see the return of Burzum. The long-awaited new album is titled Belus, in honor of the name of the ancient European solar deity of light and innocence. Belus is Burzum’s eighth studio album, and the sound and music of the new album can be better compared with the music of some of Burzum’s old albums; in particular the innovative Hvis Lyset tar Oss and the brilliant atmospheres of Filosofem, only the ambient parts present in these albums have been almost completely omitted in Belus. Belus is a punchy, melodic guitar-driven album that will hold Burzum firmly at the helm of the metal/black metal scene and possibly be his best album to date.
