Biggs Jasper is an opaque, banded variety of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), prized for its scenic, landscape-like patterns that resemble painted desert hills. It was discovered in the 1960s near Biggs Junction, Oregon, during highway construction. The original deposit is now paved over, making this jasper increasingly rare and highly collectible. Known for its durability and ability to take a high polish, Biggs Jasper ranks around 7 on the Mohs hardness scale.
