Rare antique fine mesh purse with the honeybee mark. This beautiful, very fine soldered mesh purse was made c. 1910 by the E. A. Bliss Co. It was handmade, in a very slow, laborious process, where each individual link is soldered. The delicate mesh has a silky feel to it, and drapes beautifully. The front of the frame has a fine floral hand chased design, with a blank cartouche. The back is plain. There are two tiny pointed stones in the closure.
The mesh is all intact, and all the rings that attach the mesh to the frame are in place. It is typical for a small area of mesh not to be connected to the frame near the hinges. It has some wear to the back of the frame, and some spots of light oxidation. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition for it's age.
E. A. Bliss Co. started business in 1883, and later became Napier around 1915.
