Otto Kissenberth, a notable German fighter ace during the Great War, was known for his bravery and tenacity in combat, as well as an unusual trait of flying missions while wearing his spectacles. Commanding Royal Bavarian Jasta 23 in August 1917, he primarily flew the Albatros D series, with aircraft serial number D2263/17 being his personal machine. Distinctive with its black fuselage and large yellow and white Edelweiss emblems, this aircraft is believed to have been used for most of his 20 victories. Intriguingly, Kissenberth also flew a captured British RNAS Sopwith Camel, which he used to score his final victory on 16th May 1918.
