This is a rare shoe produced in the early 1960s by Johnston&Murphy, an American shoemaker known for the phrase The President's Shoe. It was produced under the concept of The informal dress shoes, and is a model that gives a glimpse into the rich and advanced American culture of the 1960s, which sought to break away from classical dress shoes (the third image is an advertisement from that time found online).

It is a very fashionable model, but above all, the construction as a shoe is excellent. While there are many fashionable shoes today, very few are made with the construction of a genuine shoe, making this one valuable. The beautiful shape, like that of European brands such as Corte, is superb, and the quality of the French calf used is also excellent, as shown in the photos. Lazy man shoes are popular these days, but this is a design from that era that precedes them.

The size is 9A, which I think would be suitable for someone with a foot size of 25.5 to 26, with a narrow to slightly narrow width. For me, with a foot size of 26.5+α and a slightly narrow width, the width was too tight. On the other hand, I think the visual balance of this model looks better with a narrower width.

The condition is used, but as you can see in the photos, the heel and sole are still more than 90% intact. There are some scratches (for example, the scratch in the 8th image and the inside of the heel in the 12th image), but considering the age, I think it is in good condition.

Johnston&Murphy, while there are some available, rarely has items from the 1960s or earlier, especially those from the period when the quality was high, so please consider this.
