Since its first flight in 1974, the BAe Hawk, which is used as a training/low cost fighter aircraft, has continued in service for more than 30 years. The Hawk has an 11m wingspan,a gross weight of 5.1tons, and is powered by a Adour 151 turbofan engine. It can be armed with a 30mm machine gun pod and can carry up to 2270kg of ordnance. In addition to the RAF, the Hawk was exported to the Swiss Air Force and 16 other nations.
